What is Blinky?
Blinky is a fluffy, expressive character in the Simple app who reacts to your actions and progress. You’ll see Blinky respond when you log meals, track water, record activity, or update your weight. His goal is simple: make tracking feel more engaging, supportive, and motivating—rather than repetitive or judgmental.
Blinky isn’t just decorative. He adds an emotional layer to your experience, encouraging consistency and helping you stay connected to your weight-loss journey.
What Blinky does in the app
Blinky reacts to how you use the app, including:
Logging meals (any meal counts)
Tracking water intake
Recording activity
Checking in on your progress
No matter what you log, Blinky’s first reaction is always positive. Logging something—anything—is better than logging nothing. Blinky celebrates consistency, not perfection.
If you stop logging for a while, Blinky’s mood shifts. He may look sad, dramatic, or a little desperate. That’s his way of reminding you that he (and your progress) misses you.
Blinky and your Success Score
Blinky is directly linked to your Success Score, adding an emotional layer to your progress. As your score changes, Blinky responds in real time by:
Changing color
Showing different emotions
Reacting with varying levels of excitement, concern, or drama
When your progress is strong, Blinky becomes happier and more energized. If progress slows or trends in the wrong direction, Blinky may look sadder, clingier, or more dramatic—but always encouraging you to keep going.
If you don’t have a score yet, Blinky will strongly encourage you to log. Without logs, there’s no score; and Blinky really doesn’t like being left in the dark.
Blinky colors and what they mean
Orange — Weight gain or maintenance
Yellow — Stalled weight loss
Green — Steady weight loss
Deep green — Peak weight loss
For example:
Blinky’s original color is purple.
If you’re in the green zone (steady weight loss), Blinky turns green too.
If your progress stalls and you move into the yellow zone, Blinky turns yellow.
Why Blinky matters
Blinky is designed to:
Make daily tracking feel more rewarding
Reduce shame around food and habits
Encourage consistency through emotion, humor, and personality
Keep you engaged—even during plateaus or tough weeks
He’s not a traditional coach or cheerleader. Blinky is more like a chaotic, emotional bestie who wants you to show up — for yourself and for him.
If you don’t see Blinky in your app, make sure your app is updated to the latest version. Restart the app after updating. In most cases, updating resolves the issue and makes Blinky visible.
